Fantasy – it’s more than just the Netflix category between Action and Deep Sea Musicals. From Tolkien to Gaiman and every shade in-between, fantasy covers a large swath of the literary world. Are you looking to sling spells and fight off the forces of evil as in the Harry Potter series; that’s fantasy. Maybe you want something a little more epic à la Lord of the Rings. That’s fantasy as well. You can even combine fantasy with other genres such as science fiction, comedy, drama, or horror to create the world you want. And all you need is a log line for a chance to bring your world to life.
Fortunately for you, we can give you that chance with the Inkshares Fantasy Contest.
If you haven’t been following along (and shame on you for not doing so), both Geek & Sundry and Nerdist have been helping out budding authors to find their voice. Check out the winner of Nerdist’s video game Inkshares contest here or see how our last contest turned out when we dove into hard science. Now it’s up to you to weave a spell, head out on a fantastic adventure, or simply dive into the strange with Geek & Sundry’s Fantasy Contest.
Here’s how it all works. Beginning TODAY, writers can submit their fantasy story pitches and/or sample chapters (you don’t need both) to Inkshares for consideration and pre-orders. Inkshares will help publish the top three submissions with the most unique pre-orders by 12:00 p.m. PST, November 1st. In addition to getting published, Inkshares offers the winners some awesome perks including editorial and design services, printing, marketing, and distribution into bookstores nationwide. Geek & Sundry will then select at least one story to be in our debut Inkshares collection. Your story will get the Geek & Sundry seal of approval (and literal seal, it’ll go right there on your book) and we’ll be sharing out its existence to countless fans around the world!
Now is the time to turn your fantasies into a reality! Send in your log lines, your ideas, your crumpled up bits of paper with spells on them into Inkshares to start finding your voice.
Every great adventure begins with a single sentence. Start writing TODAY! #FantasticInk
