This Custom Settlers of Catan Table is a Work of Art

For over two decades, The Settlers of Catan has been one of the most popular tabletop strategy games in the entire world. As ubiquitous as the game has become, we doubt that many fans are lucky enough to have their very own custom-made table that was specifically designed to play games of Catan!

During a recent episode of Super-Fan Builds, the creation of the custom Catan gaming table was chronicled from start to finish, and the result is truly a thing of beauty. Shane Hammond and his team at Set Masters really outdid themselves with this one. One of the first things you may notice is that the table was given an LED layer and animation pattern to simulate the ocean around the island of Catan, and that the game board was also custom made. What you can’t immediately see is that the table includes built-in storage space for Catan and its expansions, as well as a way to turn it into a normal dining table when not in use for games. As Hammond explained, a table that size needed a dual purpose to justify its place within the home.

If this table was available for purchase, we’d be tempted to get it just for aesthetic purposes. It took quite a bit of effort to make this creation a reality, including over 100 pieces of wood that were specifically designed and cut to fit into the finished design. The video even demonstrated how the chairs were given Catan logos using a technique called gun powder art.

While the video isn’t currently available for embed, you can watch the Catan episode of Super-Fan-Builds here. We highly recommend it!
