The Wednesday Club’s Comic Picks: Werewolf by Wednesday

The Wednesday Club is Geek & Sundry’s weekly talk show chatting about all things comics. This week, hosts Amy Dallen, Matt Key, and Taliesin Jaffe (with a brief cameo by Hector Navarro) talked about monsters both classic and unconventional that make appearances in the pages of comic books.

The episode’s title is inspired by Werewolf By Night, a classic Marvel monster title from the 1970s that starred a werewolf as a hero. Jack Russell (really) was a hero created by Roy Thomas and his wife Jean, said Amy, and the first issue was penned by Gerry Conway.

Not only did the hosts talk about classic Western monsters like Dracula and Frankenstein’s monster, but also creatures from Japanese horror that are an integral part of their culture.

Check out the gallery below to learn more about each recommendation from the episode.

Taliesin, Amy, and Matt also touched briefly on books like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Seven Soldiers of Victory, Monsters Unleashed, Blade, Marvel Zombies, iZombie, and, of course, The Walking Dead.

Don’t forget to pick up the official Wednesday Club T-shirt, now available exclusively on Amazon!

Hang out on the Geek & Sundry Twitch channel every Wednesday night to catch the next spectacular episode of The Wednesday Club.
