The Wednesday Club is Geek & Sundry’s weekly talk show chatting about all things comics. This week, hosts Taliesin Jaffe and Amy Dallen were joined by Markeia McCarty to talk about the Eisner nominees honoring the best of comics in 2018.
Did you know that the Eisner Awards ceremony is held every year at San Diego Comic-Con, and anyone with a badge can get in?
Markeia, Amy, and Taliesin chatted about this year’s nominees, from mainstream comics you’re familiar with to short stories you aren’t, like the biography of Karen Green told in “A Life in Comics,” which you can read online right now.
“It’s history in a graphic novel,” said Markeia. “The way that it’s paneled, I love [it]… It’s gorgeous.”
The hosts chatted about their other favorite reads from all the amazing nominations, most of which you can find on comiXology. (The awards were held on the Friday night after this episode of The Wednesday Club, so if you’re ready to be spoiled, take a look at comiXology’s list of winners.)

Markeia, Amy, and Taliesin also expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming Shuri solo title announced at SDCC and the newly released Jessica Jones digital series penned by Kelly Thompson. They also mentioned The Wicked + The Divine, Black Hammer, Giant Days, Hellboy: Krampusnacht, Mister Miracle, and other fantastic nominees.
