The Twitch Team Takes You Behind the Scenes of Critical Role

Late last year, Geek & Sundry’s Twitch producers created a one-of-a-kind time-lapse video to bring you a rare look behind the scenes of a typical episode of Critical Role.

If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to make a normal Thursday happen, look no further than this time-lapse video created by Geek & Sundry’s production crew themselves and graciously hosted by Critical Scope.

The time lapse begins on a Thursday morning, around 9:30 AM, and begins with Mines & Crafts. The day then brings Game the Game and Bearded Men West before the real work starts on getting the set ready for Critical Role.

The Twitch team also provided specified timestamps on Reddit when sharing the video, including:

1:20 – Alpha shows Mothership – this gives us an hour to REALLY start the work for Critical Role. Bringing in tables and walls, etc.

1:56ish – We go live on CR!

2:46ish – Intermission

2:53 – CR Act 2!

3:38 – Fin.

This particular episode being filmed is Episode 78, “The Siege of Emon.” You can see Sam Riegel on the left and Will Friedle on the right as they film the race toward the end of the Chroma Conclave arc. (And bro, like whoa, you can totally catch a glimpse of Brody Slater around the 2:38 mark.)

You might think you know how much hard work goes into everyone’s favorite show on Thursday nights, but you don’t really get the full picture until you see the crew expertly bring it all together in this amazing time-lapse.

Cheers for the Geek & Sundry Twitch team! Share your appreciation in the comments.
