The New Fantastic Beasts Trailer Is Nothing Short of Fantastic

J.K. Rowling has been reinvigorating the Potter fandom with incredible force with her Magic in North America series, releasing Ilvermorny sorting, and telling the story behind the founders of America’s wizarding school–not to mention the work being done with The Cursed Child and the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film. It’s a great time to be a Potterhead, and it almost feels like no time has passed since new Harry Potter movies and books were being released. Still, Fantastic Beasts has got some pretty big shoes to fill when it hits theaters, but after seeing the latest trailer dropped at San Diego Comic Con, I really don’t think we’ll be disappointed.

One of the biggest concerns I’ve heard as people talk about Fantastic Beasts is how successfully Rowling will be able to expand her wizarding world. The Magic in North America Pottermore series was received with mixed reviews among fans, and it had us all wondering if Harry Potter’s wizarding world was best kept small. However, after reading the Ilvermorny story on Pottermore (which, if you haven’t read that yet, go read it now) and seeing the latest trailer, I absolutely think we’re about to get a fun and exciting new adventure in a corner of the wizarding world we’ve not yet seen.

Of course, we only get small glimpses of the characters we’ll meet in the film, but the general tone of the film seems like it will be reminiscent of the tone from the Potter movies. Plus, I can’t help but get some Hagrid feels as I was Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, chasing down all of this beloved magical creatures. I still may be on the fence about the term “no-maj”, but the movie itself looks like it’s going to be a great adventure and will make us all feel like kids again. Like the final line in the trailer says, “I wish I was a wizard.”

What do you think of the trailer? Do you think it will live up to your expectations? What things do you hope to see in Fantastic Beasts? Let’s talk in the comments!
