Road To BlizzCon: Our Tour of Blizzard Studios and More Annoucements

What happens when two Blizzard superfans get a special behind-the-scenes tour of where the magic happens? You’ll have to ask Erika Ishii and Darin DePaul, as soon as they’ve recovered from the experience! Last week on Game Engine, we shared the news that we’d be heading to Blizzard Studios in advance of BlizzCon, the world-renowned gaming convention. This week, we went, we saw, we conquered (ok, maybe not that last part). But we did geek out massively as Blizzard Studios Vice President Jeff Kaplan gave us a special tour of Blizzard’s campus.

But that’s not all. We also announced that Muse will be playing BlizzCon this year! This Grammy Award-winning band will be closing out BlizzCon Saturday, November 4. Even if you can’t make it to the con in-person, you’ll still get to experience this fantastic band with the Virtual Ticket.

What is the Virtual Ticket, you ask? It’s an all-access pass for those unable to attend BlizzCon in-person. You don’t have to be in Anaheim to still get the BlizzCon experience! With it, you can get access to streams of all four content stages along with an All-Access channel that acts as your guide through the show. You’ll also get a series of pre-show videos, including cosplay demos, a journey inside the Blizzard Vault, and other exciting behind-the-scenes content. That’s on top of early access to the BlizzCon Store.

With your BlizzCon Virtual ticket (or attendee ticket), you also get tons of virtual goodies too, including:

  • Stormwind Skychaser mount (for the Alliance!) and Orgrimmar Interceptor mount (for the Horde!)
  • New Blizzcon 2017 Winston skin (for you Overwatch fans)
  • StarCraft II: Junker SCV, Probe, and Drone Skins
  • Heroes of the Storm®: Nexus Razorback Mount and more!
  • Diablo® III: Murkromancer Pet (it’s a necrotic, aquatic companion can command an army of dead fish)
  • Hearthstone mystery goodie (arriving after Blizzcon). It’s a special goodie that doesn’t have a new card back. (Maybe it’s a golden legendary that will tie into the soon-to-be-announced expansion? Our fingers are crossed.)

In addition, you can now pre-purchase a BlizzCon Goddy Bag through the Blizzard Gear Store (bonus: Virtual Ticket holders will get an automatic $10 discount). In it, you’ll find:

  • A sleek black BlizzCon backpack, featuring a BlizzCon-themed lining
  • A Badge Icon Pack containing 6 badges—1 each for World of Warcraft®, StarCraft® II, Diablo® III, Hearthstone®, Heroes of the Storm®, and Overwatch®
  • 1 Blizzard Collectible Pin from Series 4
  • 1 Cute But Deadly® Blind Vinyl from Series 3 (Overwatch Edition)
  • 1 Overwatch Backpack Hanger featuring Eidgenossen Mercy, a BlizzCon exclusive

goody bag

You can also upgrade your Goody Bag and get:

  • 1 Badge Booster Pack, containing 3 blind badges
  • 1 additional Blizzard Collectible Pin from Series 4
  • 1 additional Cute But Deadly Blind Vinyl from Series 3 (Overwatch Edition)
  • 1 Overwatch Backpack Hanger Pack, containing 1 blind hanger

upgrade goody bag

Finally, with the Epic Upgrade or a $150+ purchase during the BlizzCon merch sale (coming soon) you can get your hands on a BlizzCon 2017 Merchy Pin as well.
