Marvel and Square Enix Announces New Avengers Game

Nobody loves to make a splashy announcement like Marvel. They’ve been teasing us on their social media accounts for the past few days about a big announcement that they were planning to make, and this morning the news finally dropped. And it’s pretty awesome news for gamers and fans of The Avengers:

This game is being called a multi-game deal, and so while there isn’t a release date just yet, it looks like we’ll have some pretty badass Avengers games coming at us over the next few years. Of course, deciding to make a series of games based on one of the most well-loved franchises out there is a tall order. That’s why Marvel has enlisted the very best. They’re partnering with Square Enix, Eidos-Montreal, and Crystal Dynamics.

You might know them better as the geniuses behind Deux Ex, Tomb Raider, and Final Fantasy XV. So if anyone can handle some of our favorite heroes, it most definitely would be this team. From the looks of the teaser, we’ll likely see most of our favorite Marvel superheroes in this game, as references are made to Thor, Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain America. Hopefully we’ll also see the likes of Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Falcon, and Vision, but we’ll have to wait to get more info!

While we’ll likely have to wait quite a while to get some more concrete info on the new Avengers games, and even longer to play them, we won’t have to wait too much longer for a new Avengers story. Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May of 2018. Okay, that’s still a pretty long wait, but it totally could be worse, right?

Tell us what you think of the teaser and what characters you’d love to see in the new Avengers games in the comments!
