Once again, Wizards of the Coast invited Dungeons & Dragons luminaries from various role-playing communities, games, and streams to a weekend event unlike any other.
At this year’s Stream of Many Eyes, players, guests, and even fans were invited to walk in the streets of Waterdeep as two new books were announced. Waterdeep: Dragon Heist (levels 1-5) and Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage (levels 5-20) will be out on September 20, 2018 for players worldwide.
With the event in Hollywood this year, Geek & Sundry and Alpha were able and more than willing to send out a big contingent of players, dungeon masters, and real-life bards to participate. Here’s where you can find your favorite personalities in the videos from the epic weekend.
And be sure to take a look at the photo gallery below for some behind-the-scenes shots!
Critical Role
Almost all of the cast of Critical Role were able to attend the Stream of Many Eyes this year, playing as characters old and new:
- Matthew Mercer was the Dungeon Master for a Force Grey game with Ashley Johnson and Critical Role guest Joe Manganiello
- Mark Hulmes, who recently guest starred as Calianna, was the Dungeon Master for Taliesin Jaffe, Sam Riegel (as Obby the Rat!), and Ashley Johnson in Adventure Impractical: A Stone Unturned
- Matthew Mercer and Marisha Ray played in a game with Deborah Ann Woll taking her first turn as a Dungeon Master in The Witch of Briarcleft
- Travis Willingham returned as Grog Strongjaw alongside Joe Manganiello as Arkan the Cruel in Jocks Machina, the final stream of the weekend
Dread
While not a game of Dread itself, Game Master Extraordinaire Ivan van Norman took a group including Satine Phoenix and B. Dave Walters on an adventure that was both unlike any other and yet strangely familiar. (It didn’t help that instead of rolling dice, Ivan asked players to “make a pull” from a card deck to determine their fate.)
The game was a three session “Off the Table” Dungeons & Dragons inspired experience that lasted almost the entire day. Costumed players interacted with the denizens of Waterdeep, including a familiar face for Critical Role fans: Gil the Vlogsmith.
More Fun With Familiar Faces
If you get a chance to watch the unedited stream, you might also catch some of your Geek & Sundry favorites in the background, including:
- Jason Charles Miller and Amy Dallen as bards, along with the Library Bards Xander Jenneret and Bonnie Gordon
- Erika Ishii as a tiefling inhabitant of Waterdeep
- Sam de Leve, Brian W. Foster, and Chris Lockey as spectators
You’ll also find games with amazing role-playing games and groups like Dice, Camera, Action, Sirens of the Realms, Rivals of Waterdeep, and Girls Guts Glory. All sessions are two hours or less, perfect for those times when you need a quick one-shot to get you through an afternoon. Visit the Dungeons & Dragons YouTube channel for all of the incredible videos from the Stream of Many Eyes.
