Minor spoilers for Critical Role follow.

Episode 1: Curious Beginnings

This is the one that started it all. At the beginning of 2018, the second campaign of Critical Role kicked off in a livestream watched by over 90,000 people. In the first episode, we meet Fjord, Beauregard, Caleb Widogast, Nott the Brave, Jester, Mollymauk Tealeaf, and Yasha—and they meet each other for the first time as well.

With the new group coming together for the very first time, there’s some mistrust and tentative conversations. But fate brings them together in the small town of Trostenwald as something goes horribly wrong when the traveling circus comes to town…

There’s no better introduction for someone who wants to know what Critical Role is all about than this first episode.

Runtime: 3 hours, 24 minutes

Episode 8: The Gates of Zadash

After the group successfully saves the people of small village, they’re really making a name for themselves. Literally, the adventurers name themselves in this episode: The Mighty Nein. They turn their sights to Zadash to find coin and their next mission. There they meet one of their first trustworthy allies, Pumat Sol, the mellow merchant who runs The Invulnerable Vagrant.

“The Gates of Zadash” also sets the stage for The Mighty Nein’s next adventures in their willing service of the mysterious Gentleman.

Bonus: The Ruby of the Sea song!

Runtime: 3 hours, 47 minutes

Episode 12: Midnight Espionage

If your friends are the type who love combat in Dungeons & Dragons, this is the episode for them. The Mighty Nein is on a secret mission to root out some corrupt members of the local government of Zadash, and things go slightly awry—this is Critical Role, after all.

The group strategizes, sneaks around the dark streets, and battles with a carpet in this episode that ends with a bang. The cliffhanger alone will get you or your friends immediately started on the next episode.

Bonus: The first appearance of the metagaming pigeon! (Coo.)

Runtime: 4 hours, 16 minutes

Episode 26: Found and Lost

Things are looking bleak for The Mighty Nein in this first episode at the new Critical Role studio. While the group deals with a stunning setback that catches them in surprise in the middle of the night, they also make a new ally in the form of guest player character Keg. Keg asks for The Mighty Nein’s help with her old gang in Shady Creek Run, but the adversaries give them more of a fight than they bargained for.

Disclaimer: This is an emotional episode with a shocking ending that changes the campaign forever.

Runtime: 5 hours, 8 minutes

Episode 28: Within the Nest

With the group still reeling from recent events, they are joined by another new friend and player character, the delightful druid Nila. They haven’t given up on their mission to stop Keg’s old gang, and they need all the help they can get. They make another new ally in an unlikely place in this landmark episode of the second campaign.

Together they infiltrate the Iron Shepherds’ hideout, the Sour Nest, in this action-packed episode.

Runtime: 4 hours, 28 minutes
