Ultra Realistic Coloured Pencil Drawing of Rey Will Amaze You

Ultra Realistic Coloured Pencil Drawing of Rey Will Amaze You

The featured image above is not a photo. It’s a drawing, using coloured pencils.

Heather Rooney is an incredible artist with the skill to capture her subjects with photographic precision. She’s got a YouTube channel where she’s posted videos of her process drawing various subjects including James Bond, Katniss Everdeen, Harry Potter, Voldermort, Hazel and Augustus (for you Nerdfighters) and most recently, Daisy Ridley as Rey.

Despite the time-lapse of the videos, it’s pretty clear the drawings are done painstakingly. Rooney starts with a light pencil sketch as a guide and then slowly adds layers of colour, adding depth and detail, and blending. Lots of blending. It’s an incredible process to see unfold.

One of the 22 year-old artist’s first videos is a realistic time-lapse painting of Batman as the Dark Knight, which is reminiscent of  Alex Ross’ work. She’s nearing a cool million subscribers on YouTube, regularly releasing short videos of her process and posting her works in progress and completed drawings on her other social media channels, including FacebookTwitter, Instagram and Tumblr.

Check out the unbelievable video of the Rey sketch below, and let us know in the comments who you’d love to see her draw next!
