The Force Awakens has been blowing doors off cinema records, and generally blowing the minds of Star Wars fans everywhere. Of course, Disney has LOADS more planned with the Star Wars universe beyond TFA and episodes eight and nine. In addition to spin-off movies like this year’s Rogue One, we’re also getting films focusing on some of our favorite characters. Namely one that features our favorite scruffy-looking nerf-herder, Han Solo.
Of course casting young Han is going to be quite the challenge, and getting fans to love a Han played by anyone other than Harrison Ford will be tougher than convincing George Lucas that Han shot first. Regardless, casting efforts must go on, and Variety is reporting that casting shortlist for young Han has been officially revealed today, and the names rising to the surface are Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen, Blake Jenner.
Each of those guys could bring something incredibly unique to the role, but it’s unclear who will best fit the fan (and studio) vision of what Han was like in his pre-rebellion days. It looks like we won’t have to wait long to find out who will be piloting the Millennium Falcon. Though Han’s movie isn’t set to start filming until January and release in May 2018, the studio has promised us an official casting announcement in the next few weeks due to another Star Wars film that is currently shooting. So let the wild speculations about Han’s role or cameo in Rogue One begin!
What do you think of the shortlist? Who do you think would be the best to represent young Han? Let me know what you think in the comments!
