Another week has flown by at the Geek & Sundry offices. Felicia is out promoting her new book all across the country, so you should pick up a copy and have her sign it for you. Tell her that we miss seeing her at the office. And as the sun slowly sets on another week, the only thing we can think about is, “what are we wearing to the Labyrinth of Jareth?” I’m taking four mice, a pumpkin, and hoping for the best at this point. Make sure to check out next week for photos from the big event.
While I gather up something that’s not completely wrinkled off the floor of my room, why don’t you check out some of the awesome articles from this week? We have more interviews, some playlists that you make, and a little taste of what’s going on this weekend.
What You Might Have Missed:
Labyrinth of Jareth Interviews – Find out where the magic began and how it became one of the biggest masquerades to hit Los Angeles. Now where did I put my mask?
The Pull’s Pull – You might have missed it last week, but we’re moving The Pull to Wednesday. You know, the actual Pull Day. To find out the best of what’s hitting the shelves, as well as the rest, make sure you check in on Wednesday for The Pull.
Comic Stores You Need To Visit – And to find the best comics, you need to go to the best store. Actually, you can pick up comics at any comic book store, but these are the stores that give you more than this week’s selection and a dirty look from the guy behind the counter.
Costume Designer Shawna Trpcic: Advice to the Community – The final piece from Stef on Shawna hit this week. She shares everything you need to know to make it in the business of costuming for TV, movies, or just making your own cosplay.
Child of Light Interview – We talk to the writer one of the most original titles to come out of Ubisoft last year. And if you haven’t played it, you really should- right now.
What We’ve Been Reading:
Archeogaming – What happens when all the virtual people are gone? Archeogaming digs into our virtual past (and sometimes present) with an eye on how the world reflects the people who lived there. Andrew Reinhard dives into each game with the eye of an archeologist and the heart of a gamer.
Rocking Speeder Bike – I feel like the next generation of kids being born now might be one of the geekiest. Case in point, this DIY Rocking Speeder Bike. Not only can you rock your own youngling to sleep with this speeder bike, but you can also build it yourself.
Player 1 Varsity Jackets – You’re going to click the link and lose all the money in your wallet. It’s as simple as that. These varsity jackets ranging from the world of gaming to Doctor Who look amazing. The big question now is, which Pokemon Gym are we going to represent?
Ronda Rousey Dishes On Pokémon and Dragon Ball Z Once More – Speaking of Pokemon, Ronda Rousey talked about being the very best—the best there ever was—on Reddit. Kotuku managed to sift through the AMA of this master of the ring to find out more about her love of Pokemon, Dragonball Z, and Game of Thrones.
What We’ve Been Watching:
Tiny Hamster goes to Disneyland – Did you have a long week at the office as well? Tiny Hamster goes to Disneyland will make you forget the terror that was this week. Prepare to make loud cooing noises as you watch a tiny hamster take on all of Disneyland.
Acquisitions Inc. PAX Prime 2015 – I need to start packing. We’re heading out to PAX Prime this year. To get you ready and into the gaming mood, here’s the intro sequence Acquisitions Inc, a tabletop RPG game that mixes Dungeons & Dragons along with “Office Space.” What you get out of it is truly magical, if you have filled out all of your TPS reports properly.
Star Wars Cantina Band on a Chapman Stick – Let’s talk about the amazing level of geekery in this video. Guillaume first needed to learn how to play an instrument that few even know existed, and then plays the Star Wars “Cantina Band” on it. This is fandom taken to the next level.
