So it’s time for your weekly campaign update!
First of all: We understand that a month has passed since we projected the items would be delivered, and we apologize. But the reality is that campaigns of this size with this many outside variables often run into issues and we are one of them presently. Just know we are doing our best and only waiting on a few more items.
This entire process, frankly has been MUCH more complicated than we originally anticipated. We’ve run into a number of challenges, including:
– Generating a unique address for 17,000 individuals that allows people to access their perks based on their donations
– Automatically generating a Steam Code and providing it to the backer
– Convincing companies to expand our bandwidth for GeekandSundry.com to allow over 1360 TB of data to pass through the site
– Handling the various bumps and setbacks that comes from testing a new system like this
Truth be told, entire process has been very frustrating.
WHERE WE ARE AT:
At this point we’re still only about 3,000 emails in, but we are continuing to plow ahead. We are also preparing a [LOW-RES] Version of the Archive that is going to be more like 100 MB for each episode (but at reduced quality) so that everyone has options when it comes to how much they want to commit to downloading.
WHAT ARE WE DOING ABOUT IT:
We found a way to send out MANY more emails, and we are CHECK and DOUBLE CHECK the system a few more times before sending them out in address the fact that some people aren’t getting Steam Codes when they should.
Our team expects to have the Low-Res Version of the Archive on MONDAY. After that we’ll be starting the process over again and we hope that it will be MUCH more smooth.
TO THE ~200 PEOPLE GETTING INVALID DOWNLOAD KEYS – We’ll be resending those by the end of the day today.
WE WILL EMAIL EVERYONE WITH A UPDATE ONCE THEY HAVE ALL BEEN SENT OUT, AFTER THAT
UPDATE… THEN YOU CAN WORRY IF IT’S ARRIVED YET OR NOT.
TLDR Digital Rewards: We’ll start sending them out again on Monday. We will email everyone once they have ALL been sent out.
We are still waiting on final delivery dates on a few items. Our biggest challenge was with the DICE. Because of the CAPACITY of dice, we had to change from a domestic to foreign vendor to get them finished (the domestic company couldn’t handle the volume). This almost tripled the time we expected
in getting them done.
What is IN THE WAREHOUSE:
Membership ID cards
The fulfillment house as assured us that once everything is in, it should only take 24-48 hours for everything to get shipped out.
Loot Crate will be shipping from THEIR HQ, and as soon as we have a update on when those will be sent out, we’ll let you know.
TLDR: We have had delays due to international vendors. But once everything is in, it should happen fast.
