SXSW Gaming Awards Voting is Now Open

SXSW Gaming Awards Voting is Now Open

With SXSW just around the corner, voting for the gaming awards has opened up. The most nominated game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, has 8 nominations including Game of the Year. Other titles that have been nominated for various awards with little surprise include Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Star Wars Battlefront, and  Batman: Arkham Knight.

Even the tabletop game nominees have an awful lot of overlap with our list of the Best Tabletop Games of 2015, with Blood Rage, Pandemic Legacy, Codenames,  and Lanterns: The Harvest Festival all nominated.

There are also some surprise and standout nominations as well. We raved about Her Story and Undertale, and both games having garnered nominations in several categories with Undertale being the indie underdog nominee for Game of The Year, up against triple-A titles Witcher,  Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid, and Bloodborne.

Of course, there are head scratchers. It seems a little ironic that Super Mario Maker is nominated for Excellence in Design. “Most Valuable eSports Team” also seems like an odd category to be voting on. You’d think the teams themselves would play a competition to earn any eSports related title.

Check out the nominees for the various categories and vote. Geek & Sundry will be in attendance, so if you’re out there, do make sure you stop by and say hi.

Which game do you think will win the Game of the Year Award at SXSW? Let us know in the comments!
