Were you one of those people who invested in a 3D television? Do you like Star Wars? If your answer is “Yuppers!” to both of these, then you’ll be happy to hear that Disney is releasing a 3D Collector’s Edition of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Fans can relive the theatrical IMAX 3D version at home, starting November 15 in the US and Canada. Well, the 3D part of that experience anyway.
This particular Collector’s Edition offers four different formats: 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Digital HD, and DVD. Why you would want all four? I dunno. Maybe give one to a friend? It will offer all the bonus content that came with the original April release as well as brand new, additional bonus content. That includes even more deleted scenes, cast and crew interviews, and an audio commentary track with director J.J. Abrams.
There will also be four new mini-documentaries. “Foley: A Sonic Tale” and “Sounds of the Resistance” go behind the scenes to tell the stories of how old talent and new created the sound design to bring the film to life. “Dressing the Galaxy” and “Inside the Armory” reveal the creation of the costumes and armor for the new generation of Star Wars.
If you haven’t picked up a personal copy of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, then this version might be worth your wait, especially if you or someone you know have the means to watch it in 3D. Or if you’re super hardcore about owning the additional content. Otherwise, you might want to consider settling for the original Blu-ray/DVD combo that also comes with a Digital HD version.
