This year marks the 15th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts, the gaming series which proved that Final Fantasy and Disney characters could be a surprisingly potent mix. In the nearly 12 years since Kingdom Hearts II was released, the series has been stuck in side stories and prequels while we’ve been eagerly awaiting the inevitable Kingdom Hearts III. We may still have quite a wait for that title, but Square Enix is marking the upcoming Kingdom Hearts anniversary by creating 13 stained glass clocks featuring the various characters from the series.
Via Gematsu, Square Enix is currently displaying the Kingdom Hearts “Memorial Stained Glass Clocks” in the Tokyo Metro Marunouchisen Shinjuku Station Metro Promenade, but they will only be featured until Sunday, January 15. These appear to be inspired by the stained glass imagery within the games themselves, and we are absolutely blown away by them.
Aside from the main characters–Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Mickey–the clocks include several familiar faces, including Roxas and the members of Organization XIII, as well as Aqua and other Keyblade wielders.
You can find the rest of the stained glass clocks in our gallery below. Once the exhibition ends, Square Enix is actually giving away the clocks to 13 lucky fans. There are two ways to enter that promotion, and both involve twitter. In the first option, fans are invited to follow @_KingdomHearts account and send it a tweet with a pic of your favorite stained glass clock. The alternate way to enter is if you make it out the exhibit itself and take a picture of it before posting it to twitter with the following hashtag: “#キングダムハーツ15周年”.
