When a prodigious fan constructed to-scale replicas of Star Destroyers and Medical Frigates, we wondered how closer fans might be to a LEGO Batman-style flick set in a galaxy far, far away. Well, we’re all at least couple steps closer to that today. The Brick Brought to Life channel specializes in stop-motion animation using these infinitely customizable toys. Take a gander at the Rogue One teaser created with that same bag of interlocking pieces.
Anybody needing a refresher on what our first (and so far, only) glimpse of Jyn Erso’s secret mission can, of course, refer to the actual trailer. Indeed, the two are exactly alike, line for line and shot for shot, though maybe not brick for brick.
If that all-too-fleeting clip has created a need for Star Wars LEGO content in your heart, though, be glad to know that the “dark times” between Revenge of the Sith and a New Hope are already a familiar playground for BBL. Another of the channel’s faux trailer pitches a potential series, Scum of the Underworld, which follows a Jedi general who finds refuge in Coruscant’s infamous, crime-riddled Sector 1313 in the aftermath of Order 66.
Another short goes further back into the timeline, showing a lively Jedi/Sith duel that suddenly erupts in the middle of what should’ve been a routine detainment procedure with some Clone Troopers.
And there are even shorts that go real wacky and enter Lego Dimensions crossover territory. Take this little lark showing what kind of shenanigans ensue when Kylo Ren and Bad Cop attempt a group interrogation of Groot.
How does seeing Rogue One in LEGO-vision compare with the flesh and blood variety? Would you petition for a proper and official LEGO Star Wars movie? Let your voices be heard in the talkback.
