Rock The DC Bombshell Looks Yourself IRL

Rock The DC Bombshell Looks Yourself IRL

Ever since I saw the DC Bombshell variant covers, I have to admit, I was completely taken.

The best part of it all is that with the resurgence of vintage fashion in mainstream culture, the looks are completely and easily recreated. Here are four looks (one for every season) inspired by the bombshell covers that are so stylish and wearable that you can let your inner heroine shine everyday.

SUMMER: WONDY THE RIVETER (WONDER WOMAN)

This look is both basic and iconic. Start with a white, short sleeve, button-down shirt; grab some high-waisted blue shorts, a well-tailored red top and a hair scarf that has iconic Wonder Woman gold stars. The look itself has strong connotations to Wonder Woman, and is pulled together with details and accessories. The best part? It isn’t at all a costume, so you can rock this at the local cafe as much as you could at your local comic convention.

FALL: LOIS LANE

Lois’ bombshell look is both cute and extremely easy to put together. Start with a long-sleeve, white button-down shirt, grab a dark grey or black vest and some reddish-brown flare or boot-cut pants  (all of which make great foundation wardrobe elements as well).

The upside is that you can find many of these pieces in a local mall (the vest is from Le Chateau and the pants are from Forever 21). As with all these looks, the accessories are the details that capture the character. In this case the suspenders (from Hot Topic) and the newsboy cap (like this one from Chapel) are the elements that fully recreate the look.

WINTER: CATWOMAN

Winter is the season for holiday parties where looking snazzy is the way to go. Whether it’s the company party, or that Valentine’s Day date you’re prepping for, Catwoman’s look is the one you reveal from under a classy fur (or faux-fur) jacket.

Cut is everything when it comes to the perfect black dress and Pinup Girl Couture’s Erin Wiggle dress has the quintessential vintage cut that hugs curves and emphasizes the right ones. Simple accessories up the glam factor: Swarovski crystal pearl necklaces (like this Casamoda one from Etsy) are inexpensive but classic and classy, and a pair of killer heels (like these BAIT Footwear Vivian heels) pulls the outfit together.

SPRING: ARISIA (GREEN LANTERN)

Arisia’s look is the absolute embodiment of spring–green and white match the daisies as they emerge after the long winter thaws.  Look for an a-line skirt cut on a bias or a circle skirt like Pinup Girl Clothing’s Audrey Skirt (which has the perfect hue in olive green).  A structured top with a lot of stretch will give you movement as well as hug your shape; like this one from Doll Me Up Darling. Finally, vintage-inspired green crystal earrings (like this pair from Etsy) will catch the light and let you shine it where you will, like a true member of the Corps.
