Pokémon Go’s Buddy System Lets You Travel With Your Favorite PokéPals

Ever wanted to choose your favorite Pokémon to bring along with you on your Pokémon journey? Well, now you can within the world of Pokémon Go!

Players have been clamoring for some time for new features to be sprinkled into the popular mobile app, and developer Niantic has delivered with possibly the cutest addition to the game yet. The new Buddy Pokémon system will allow players to choose their favorite monster from their collection to walk along beside them on-screen. In addition to being incredibly adorable, selecting your favorite Pokémon will open up in-game rewards and other “experiences,” as Niantic announced today on the official Pokémon Go blog. PokéPals will also be awarded additional Candy for walking alongside you. You can change them out at any time, so if you’re fickle, you can have a Meowth one day and a Pikachu the next.

This isn’t the first update to come to the game in the last few months, either. Recently Niantic introduce the Appraisal feature, which allows you to send specific Pokémon to be analyzed by your Team Leader, whether it’s Instinct, Instinct, or Instinct. Leaders will evaluate which Pokémon is prime for powering up so you can make the best of each capture (or just have poor Spark say ridiculous things).

Niantic promises there are additional features poised for release this fall, so hopefully the long-awaited trading feature will be rearing its head by the holiday season. That would truly be one of the greatest gifts of all.
