Are you ready to take a peek inside what makes a living, breathing Pokémon? Okay, so Pokémon aren’t real, but Christopher Stoll’s PokéNatomy artwork (which we love!) posits anatomically accurate diagrams of how certain Pokémon might function if they were real animals. These drawings are gorgeous and maybe even a little gross, but totally fun. Now, Stoll is putting together a Kickstarter to fund an entire book filled with these physiological studies.
The PokéNatomy Kickstarter’s main goal is to produce a book detailing all 150 original, generation one Pokémon. Did you know Poliwag’s characteristic swirl on its stomach shows its intestines on the inside or that Vulpix deter predators by spewing a fiery digestive fluid that also stinks? Stoll continues to play with the mythos of Pokémon in pleasingly bizarre ways (Abras no longer have a functioning anus and instead teleport their food out of their bodies).
If you love your whimsy with a big, healthy heaping of science, there’s still plenty of time to get in on the Kickstarter. There are several tiers of rewards that work for any level of Pokémon fanatic. Stoll has provided us with a selection of high quality new images for readers to take a gander at in the gallery below!
What’s the weirdest looking Pokémon to you? What Pokémon are you most excited about getting a look inside? Any Pokémon from other generations you want Stoll to include? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
