Orphan Black: What You Need To Know

Orphan Black: What You Need To Know

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: ORPHAN BLACK IS BACK, BITCHES.

Now if you haven’t heard of Orphan Black, sort your life out. If you have heard of it but haven’t seen it yet…well, sort your life out. BUT also continue reading on for a brief intro to the BEST SHOW ON TV.

Season 1 starts at a train station with rough-around-the-edges Brit, Sarah Manning. She sees someone who looks EXACTLY like her commit suicide and well, there’s no slowing down from there. Sarah discovers that it’s not just a coincidence but that there are many, many clones (all played brilliantly, perfectly, OH GOD WHY WASN’T SHE NOMINATED FOR AN EMMY by Tatiana Maslany) who are from different backgrounds, have different personalities and amazing hairstyles.

The great thing about Orphan Black is the execution. The same questions you have about the show, the protagonist has as well. How many clones are there? Where did they come from? Why were they created? Not only does it keep you intrigued with its storyline, you’re completely engulfed with Maslany’s performance. It’s not even that she’s playing multiple characters, it’s that you forget they’re not the same person playing these characters. She’s able to play against herself, bounce from each character seamlessly, and go as far as play a clone pretending to be another clone without breaking a sweat. So, um, you convinced yet?

Alright, let’s meet the clones.
