New Video Explores What STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED III Could Have Been

Nearly ten years ago, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed proved to be a critical hit and a bestselling game for LucasArts. The inevitable sequel, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, had a very fast development cycle, and it didn’t receive the same favorable response. Despite the second game ending in a cliffhanger and obvious plans for a third game in the series, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed III never came to pass. But now, we may have a better idea of what the game would have become if it hadn’t been canceled.

The Game Show has posted a video that compiles everything that is currently known about the plans for  Star Wars: The Force Unleashed III, and they sound very enticing. Apparently, writer Haden Blackman originally envisioned the third game as an open world adventure that would have featured a very unlikely team up: Starkiller and Darth Vader. At the end of the second game, Vader was a prisoner of Starkiller and his allies. In response, the Emperor would have put in motion a plan to replace Vader, which would have forced an uneasy alliance between the Dark Lord of the Sith and the clone of his secret apprentice.

There are a few other fascinating details as well, including Blackman’s original ideas for Force Unleashed II; which could have followed Yoda on his own story line or depicted the path of a fallen Jedi in a very Unforgiven-like tale. Unfortunately, Blackman wasn’t given much time to work on the story for The Force Unleashed II; and the rushed development seemed to adversely affect the quality of the game. The Force Unleashed II didn’t have very strong sales, especially when compared to its predecessor. And once Disney purchased Lucasfilm, the new owners didn’t seem to be that interested in exploring the potential of The Force Unleashed III.

What do you think about the potential of the third Force Unleashed game? Would you still be interested in revisiting it? Let us know in the comment section below!
