Matthew Mercer and Green Ronin Announce the Critical Role Campaign Setting!

It’s no secret that Green Ronin and Geek & Sundry are pals. We’re fans of them, they’re fans of us. So we freaked out a little bit (in a good way) when we learned they wanted to make a Critical Role campaign setting book. Chris Pramas of Green Ronin Publishing (TitansgraveDragon Age RPGOut of the Abyss) and Ryan Copple from Geek & Sundry were at the Critical Role live show at Gen Con last weekend to drop the news, and the crowd went bonkers.

This morning, Green Ronin Publishing gave a press release on the announcement. There, he clarifies some important points. The first book in the series will detail the continent of Tal’Dorei, where most of Vox Machina’s adventures take place. That continent includes the cities of Kraghammer, Emon, Whitestone, and others, giving GMs insight on his world straight from the mind of Mercer. The book, titled Critical Role: Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting, is scheduled to release in Spring 2017 and use 5th edition rules, just like in the Critical Role show.

Matthew Mercer is writing the book himself, collaborating with two other designers to support his work. Matt says, “The request I get most often is if I’d be interested in releasing my world to everyone, allowing them to set their own home games in a detailed Exandria. […] I am so happy to be able to finally say yes! I’ve put so much of myself into Exandria and Tal’Dorei these past years, and am so excited and proud to be working with Green Ronin to bring Exandria to our community and the gaming community at large!”

Get pumped, Critters! Get ready to experience Critical Role like never before.

There will be more information about the Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting and the other Critical Role books at the Green Ronin Publishing website over the next few months, and you’d better believe Geek & Sundry will be covering it!

Are you losing your freakin’ mind over this news!? We are. Freak out with us in comments or at our Twitter, @GeekandSundry.
