The second annual International TableTop Day has been announced for April 5th.
It’s a new year and Geek & Sundry is abuzz with plans for this year’s TableTop Day. TableTop Day was announced yesterday in Los Angeles at an event called “Play More Games,” in partnership with excellent board game publisher Days of Wonder! Guests such as Jesse Cox, Jeri Ryan, Megan Gotch (Strawburry17), and Damion Poitier (our future Thanos!) sat down with Wil and Felicia to do just that! Games such as Small World and Ticket to Ride sat upon every table, with yummy appetizers and a panel to boot!
At the event, Wil Wheaton, Boyan Radakovich, and Days of Wonder’s Mark Kaufmann sat down for a panel to discuss how tabletop gaming has grown. The panel opened with a small history on how modern tabletop gaming expanded greatly thanks to the Internet, which opened the doors to European board games such as Carcassone. The panelists also credited Geek & Sundry’s hit show TableTop (hosted by Wheaton and associate-produced by Radakovich) and the development of app games based on classic board games for the current success of board games in America.
In 2013, more than 3,100 TableTop Day events were held in 64 countries, across all seven continents and every state and province in North America. TableTop Day 2014 is guaranteed to be even bigger, but only you can make it happen!
