We all love the wizarding sport of Quidditch. In fact, we love it so much that we’ve actually turned it into a real-life sport. Colleges all over have Quidditch leagues, and there’s an actual, official US Quidditch team. If you haven’t gotten the chance to try it, you definitely should. Our own Felicia Day even gave it a go last year for an episode of The Flog.
Muggle Quidditch is awesome and rad, but the fact cannot be ignored that the sport was initially invented in the realm of the fantastic. Thankfully, we have the internet to not only give us lots of amazing cat videos, but also provide us with amazing ways to take kick our games up a notch.
So maybe this version doesn’t use your physical body, but it’s still an awesome way to keep Quidditch outside the realm of reality. Plus, by playing in or creating your own mod, you also get to incorporate your own problem solving skills and creativity. Minecraft Quidditch: it’s good and good for you!
Building a Minecraft mod is fun, but do you know what is even more fun? Beer, amirite? The best way to forget that you’re a muggle who will never be able to attend a wizarding school and play real Quidditch is to turn Quidditch into a fun drinking game! Maybe that sounds a bit depressing, but seriously, existential crisis or not, Beer Quidditch is hella rad.
Chances are solid you’ve seen this video by now, but OH MY GOSH it’s so freaking amazing. The team over at Skydive Columbia took Quidditch up a notch getting us as close as we’ll ever get to playing the actual game. Enjoy the awesomeness:
