Here Are The Blizzcon 2016 Bits You May Have Missed

Blizzcon 2016 is in full swing, and there’s been several key announcements sprinkled throughout the various presentations we’ve seen throughout the day. Overwatch fans got a good look at new hero Sombra, while Hearthstone faithful got to check out the latest expansion Mean Streets of Gadgetzan. But while those significant announcements went out, you might have missed a few others during the official keynote, delivered by CEO Mike Morhaime.

Heroes of the Storm players have some interesting developments to look forward to, in the form of King Varian Wrynn and Ragnaros making their way to the Nexus via the Public Test Realm soon, along with a brand new map called Blackheart’s Revenge. Varian himself is a multiclass hero, and Ragnaros himself is a raid boss, so it’s pretty self-explanatory why his inclusion in the game is so awesome. Both are actually available to play at Blizzcon over the weekend, but Varian will be released next week and Ragnaros unleashed in December.

Diablo III was given a lot of love as well, namely in the form of the upcoming Rise of the Necromancer character pack, which is arriving next year. The pack will include the Necromancer as well as additional character slots and cosmetic augments, an in-game pet, two stash tabs for PC players, a banner, pennant, banner sigil, and portrait frame. In short, there’s a decent amount of content coming with it. If you’re a Necromancer fan, you’ve got a lot to look forward to.

But the fun wasn’t limited only to Diablo III fans proper. Love was shown to fans who’ve been there from the beginning as well, with the announcement of The Darkening of Tristram, a special patch that will come free for anyone who owns Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. Essentially, it’s a “remake inside of a remake,” serving up a special 16-level dungeon and the first four main bosses from the original Diablo. It’s even got graphic filters to make things look as retro as possible. If you’ve been looking for a reason to look back fondly on the franchise, this is your chance to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary in style.

As Blizzcon rolls on, we’ll have more quick hits and newsy bits coming your way for maximum satisfaction when it comes to all things Blizzard. Talkin’ ’bout dat Sombra, though.

Which announcement are you the most excited about?
