Today, during Blizzcon’s opening ceremonies, Hearthstone’s Hamilton Chu took the stage to introduce the card game’s newest expansion, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan. Focusing on three crime families, the Grimy Goons, the Cabal, and the Jade Lotus; it’s got a very dark and “urban” feel to it. You never know where you’re going to be safe (or if you will be) with all the gangs roaming around.
The expansion’s greatest offering thus far is its introduction of tri-class cards, which will work in decks that feature three different hero classes. There’s a new legendary card for example, Kazakus, who can create a new spell if your deck lacks duplicate cards. Beyond Kazakus, there’s a whole new wealth of cards coming when Mean Streets of Gadgetzan lands, over 100 to be exact.
There’s even a Hunter weapon in the works, which involves a Piranha Launcher. Yes, you read that right. It leaves behind a 1/1 Piranha card each time you attack with it, which is not only useful, but hilarious as well.
For the uninitiated, Gadgetzan isn’t a brand new location for Blizzard, having made an appearance back in World of Warcraft when it debuted 12 years ago in 2004. Ran entirely by goblins in a desert area known as Tanaris, it acted as a neutral cities that players of either Alliance or Horde factions could explore at their leisure.
The set drops early December, but if you can’t wait to get your fingers on the set, you can pre-purchase your first 50 packs of the new deck here.
