Harry Potter Drinks (That You Probably Shouldn’t Ever Drink)

Nothing is better than the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, right? There are so many magical and fantastic aspects of that world that all of us desperately wish we could be a part of. From Hogwarts to Hogsmeade to chocolate frogs to Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans, quidditch and beyond, there’s a lot to love.

Of course, not everything from the Potter-verse is all magic and rainbows. Not only are there monsters, curses, and terrifying villains afoot, they also have some pretty gross drinks, too. Luckily, you don’t have to try them, because the team from Let’s Drink at LaughStashTV has made, tasted, and rated three magical libations: Polyjuice Potion, Hair of the Three-Headed Dog, and Butterbeer–two of which I could not discourage you enough from trying. You get one guess to figure out which of those three drinks is the delicious one.

Of course, actual Polyjuice Potion is described as being one of the most foul, hard to drink potions out there. After all, it literally changes your physical form to match that of someone else’s, so it would make sense that it would have a pretty gnarly taste. Unfortunately, the Polyjuice Potion cocktail from Let’s Drink has a similarly nasty nature (also, no one on the episode changed their physical form).

The Hair of the Three-Headed Dog was very similar to a Bloody Mary, but since it was made with an extra dash or two of Tabasco, it was basically undrinkable to most of the hosts (though our friend Ify Nwadiwe was able to chug his entire glass). It’s unclear if it was the Tabasco that made the drink so rough, or if it’s just a plain gross drink. I’m going to guess the latter, personally, but if you feel like getting brave you can try to whip up this drink for yourself.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that the drink that managed to delight all the hosts was the Butterbeer. Anyone who has tried any of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic recipes for Butterbeer knows it is nothing short of a delight. Plus, after those gnarly first two drinks, the Let’s Drink hosts deserved a tasty treat.

What do you think of the cocktails? Do you think the Polyjuice Potion and Hair of the Three-Headed Dog drinks sound gross, or would you be willing to try it? Have a favorite Butterbeer recipe? Share it with us in the comments!
