The Most Awesomely Creative Weddings

Weddings are awesome, but they can be super stressful. There can be tons of pressure to make sure everything is PERFECT from the color scheme to the venue, and it can always be tough to balance the desire to let you and your partner’s personality shine through the day without making the day feel tacky. While some people can totally rock a wedding that’s all-out Star Trek or Game of Thrones themed with serious style and flair, that kind of a wedding shindig isn’t for everyone. Maybe you want to make sure your love of Harry Potter gets represented in your wedding, but you aren’t in love with the idea of standing at the altar wearing Hogwarts robes in your house color. For those of you who want to add a few more subtle tones of geeky fun to your Big Day, here are some truly awesome examples of a geek chic wedding.

Gamer Wedding

Anli and Laura are two gamers who wanted to bring their love of gaming together with their love of one another. The ceremony had plenty of gamer love–using things like the Nintendo DS to display the rings and a Portal companion cube cake with gaming-inspired toppers–while keeping the love and devotion Anli and Laura have for one another central to the entire day.

Halloween/Book-Lover Wedding

Jen and Peter took their love of books and their love of Halloween to make a book-tastic, super spoopy wedding. Though the bride and groom dressed in traditional bride-and-groom outfits, the guests were encouraged to don a Halloween costume before heading to the festivities–which were held in a bookstore. In addition to holding the event surrounded by rows and rows of books and having guests dressed in costume if they so chose, the couple used books and carved pumpkins to bring out the bookish love and the Halloween holiday cheer.

Comic Book and Super Hero Wedding

Jim and Saab managed to infuse their love of books, superheroes, and comics into their wedding without shoving the theme in everyone’s face. The couples sent out comic book/library book-inspired save-the-dates and invitations, they decorated an entire wall with books *drool*, and they even opted for boutonnieres made of comic book pages. The couple also made a pretty rad entrance to their reception, walking under an arch of lightsabers, because why not?

All the Geek Things Wedding

Who says you have to pick one fandom or one brand of geek for your wedding? Kristin and Zachary decided to bring all of the geeky things they love into their big day. While they decorated the ceremony pretty traditionally, they accented the ceremony with winks here and there to their favorite parts of geek culture–from old-school gaming-inspired invites, to the Achievement Unlocked first kiss pic above, to keeping the wine used in the ceremony in a box with “companions for life” engraved in High Gallifreyan on the top of the box.

Doctor Who Wedding

This is another great example of how you can bring fandom into your wedding without having everybody don some elaborate cosplay. With subtle touches like bow ties and Converse shoes to more obvious nods to Who like a TARDIS and an officiant in Four cosplay, this wedding managed to nail the Geek Chic look. You can check out more pictures from this Whovian couple’s wedding day to get even more details on how they made their big day truly worthy of all of time and space.
