“Look, a girl.”
It’s a tale as old as time, and after the 1991 animated film’s success both during it’s original release and through the years since, Disney is taking another shot at the story of Beauty and the Beast.
The film stars Harry Potter‘s Emma Watson as Belle, who stumbles across an old castle in the forest on a search for her missing father. Unbeknownst to her, the castle is under a curse, and the residents aren’t quite what they seem.
Lucky for us, this first teaser trailer gave us far more than a glimpse into what to expect from the story’s return to the big screen. The sweeping shots from both outside and within Beast’s castle, a snippet of the music we already know and love (scored by the original composer Alan Menken), and we even see Belle herself as she reaches for the very enchanted rose that started it all.
As if the dream casting of Watson as Belle wasn’t enough to hype up fans of the story, the rest of the cast is just as magical. Beauty and the Beast is directed by Bill Condon, and stars Dan Stevens as Beast, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth (as if you couldn’t tell from the trailer), Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Luke Evans as Gaston, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Josh Gad as Le Fou, and the extraordinary Audra McDonald as Garderobe.
Beauty and the Beast premieres in theaters March 17th, 2017.
