Nerdist posted an article listing five cartoons that they would love to see made into live-action films like Cinderella. We totally agreed with them, and decided that the only logical response would be to help those movie studios out with a dream cast for these movies. Here are my suggestions for a live-action version of Pinocchio:
August Maturo as Pinocchio
This kid is the younger brother on the Disney channel spin-off Girl Meets World, and he is just so incredibly adorable. He plays a precocious, mischievous little boy on the show, and I think that attitude and his ridiculous cuteness would make him perfect for a live-action version of Pinocchio.
Tony Shaloub as Geppetto
Tony Shaloub has that perfect mix of lovable with a touch of nutty and eccentric. While I first fell in love with him as the troubled detective, Monk, Shaloub has proved over the past several years that he has no trouble fitting into whatever role he is presented with. Tony Shaloub’s brand of quirky would make him the perfect man to play a toymaker who made a marionette that actually came to life, don’t you think?
Richard Ayoade as Jiminy Cricket
Okay, stick with me here. If you’ve ever seen The IT Crowd, Richard Ayoade plays a bit of an awkward geek who has a strong sense of conscious (promising to use a robotic arm for good) with a flair for the dramatic. Those aspects alone would make him a great Jiminy, but as we’ve seen in later instances of Jiminy Cricket in Disney shows like House of Mouse, Jiminy can also have a bit of a dry, sarcastic humor, which is right in Richard Ayoade’s wheelhouse. I’d love for Richard Ayoade to by my conscience.
