Disney confirmed today via Facebook Live that the rumors are indeed true, Ralph, Felix, and Vanellope will race back into our hearts with a sequel film scheduled for release on March 9th, 2018.
The original film’s director Rich Moore kicked off the stream with a bit featuring writer Phil Johnston, and Ralph himself, John C. Reilly, with the actor sporting a pair of faux-hands resembling those of his destructive yet loveable character in the film.
The moment the actor/comedian stepped in front of the camera, the live-stream viewers knew exactly what was on the agenda. This sequel news comes after Reilly revealed last year that he had signed on to the project, but until now fans had no official announcement confirming the film’s production and release.
On top of the excitement of a new movie in the first place, Disney also shared with us an image featuring Ralph, Vanellope, and a slew of parodied social media account logos.
The 2012 film took place in a world of video games (some new, some familiar), and followed Wreck-It Ralph as he struggled to shed his villain-esque image and become the hero he’d always wanted to be.
Starring alongside Reilly were other hilarious and talented actors, like Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch.
Wreck-It Ralph is a heartwarming story of self-confidence, friendship, and fighting for the greater good, and it won over audiences of all ages, becoming a favorite of many Disney fanatics.
