DC Comics has a really strong grasp of superhero television shows, but some would say they have struggled to find the same solid footing in the movie world. However, with their latest push to really expand the DCCU, it’s a really exciting time to be a DC Comics fan. And if you’ve been on the fence about their upcoming movies like Wonder Woman and Justice League, you should definitely check out the trailers dropped at San Diego Comic Con. They are nothing short of amazing and totally badass.
Wonder Woman is such an iconic figure within the comic book universe, but we haven’t seen a successful standalone property based on Diana Prince since the Lynda Carter series in the seventies.
Gal Gadot did a wonderful job playing our favorite Amazonian superhero in Batman v. Superman, and from the looks of the trailer she’s going to make us fall even harder for her in her standalone film. From what we see in the trailer, it also looks like she and Chris Pine have pretty great chemistry together, and it should be really fun watching the two of them kick ass onscreen together.
I’m also loving that Gadot’s Wonder Woman costume is more visibly red and blue like her costume in the comics. I love it when movies stay true to–or at least close to–the costuming from the comic book source material. Of course, the trailer being so badass is actually a bit of a bummer because we’ve got about a year to wait for this one. Still, I imagine it will be well worth the wait. Wonder Woman releases in June of 2017.
I’ve been incredibly curious about what to expect from this movie. With the controversy over Ezra Miller’s casting as Barry Allen/The Flash, wondering what Jason Momoa’s Aquaman would be like in real life, and wondering if they’d keep the somber, darker tone of some of the other DC films, I had no idea what to expect. But I have to say that after watching this trailer, I am SO pumped for this movie.
Unsurprisingly, Momoa’s Aquaman is totally and completely badass (sure, we don’t see much of him, but damn he looks cool), Miller’s Barry Allen seems to have that speedster magic with Barry’s classic fun spirit, and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg looks totally fantastic. From the looks of the trailer, it seems like DC is doing a great job at getting the tone of the movies to match the tone of the comics.
Whether you’re more of a fan of DC movies or DC comics, things look really promising and exciting with this film. Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait a really long time for this film to hit theaters. Justice League will land in theaters in November of 2017.
What do you think of the trailers? Did they get you more pumped for the movies, or do you wish they highlighted other parts of the film? Which Justice League character are you most excited to see in action? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
