Daisy Ridley’s Stunt Double Could Take On The First Order By Herself

Daisy Ridley’s Stunt Double Could Take On The First Order By Herself

We know better than to mess with Daisy Ridley, having seen her deadlift what a human adult weighs. But Rey was played by more than Ridley; meet the other person who performed on screen as Rey, Chloe Bruce, who is quite the badass herself.

She’s a highly accomplished and decorated martial artist who also happens to hold the Guinness World Record for most amount of kicks in one minute (212 kicks, in case you were wondering). Bruce is also a longtime practitioner of bojutsu, the technique used by Rey in Force Awakens, having been practicing the five strikes, five blocks and the two figure eight spins that make up bojutso since the age of 12. “It’s definitely not as difficult as it looks,” she told Vogue. “Once you have that foundation, it’s more about linking moves and spins and throws, and being creative.”

The 32 year old British performer is a highly sought after stuntwoman, with her credits including work in Harry Potter, Thor 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy where she also played Gammora as Zoe Saldana’s stunt double.

She talked with Geek Girl Con about helping these actresses create the characters as physical presences on screen: “You get to form a great bond with the actresses and learn to portray the character together. After all, you are both out to achieve the best overall appearance for the character on screen. You can help train them and prepare them for the shooting days along with the stunt coordinators, and just generally form a great connection so that when you are shooting you get to help and rely on one another.”

One thing is for certain: we’d put money on her with a double-bladed lightsaber over Phasma any day of the week.

What do you think? Who would win in a fight: Gammora or Rey? Let us know in the comments!
