This past weekend, TableTop won the Diana Jones Award for Excellence in Gaming, which is often regarded as the most prestigious award in the gaming industry. First awarded back in 2001, this honor has been announced each year at GenCon in Indianapolis. Past winners include Peter Adkison (founder of Wizards of the Coast), Ticket to Ride, and BoardGameGeek.com The trophy itself was created in the mid 1980s to commemorate TSR losing the publishing rights for The Adventures of Indiana Jones Role Playing Game, and got it’s name when the charred remains of the last unsold game left behind the remains of the name “Diana Jones”. Wil himself has even called the award the “Stanley Cup of gaming awards,” which is the highest of compliments from this hardcore hockey fan.
From TableTop’s inception, we knew that we were making something special, something that would spread our love of gaming to people all over the world. This show could not exist without all of you fans who not only watch and comment, but also make a point to approach us at conventions to tell us how much the show means to you. It lets us know that we’re doing more than just making an entertaining show, that we’re bringing families together and introducing people to the world of gaming.
Thank you to all who watch and love TableTop, we are extremely honored to be the recipient of this award and even more honored to bring you a show that you love. Keep watching and remember, play more games!
