Check Out This Rainbow Brite X-Men Mash-Up!

So Ok we get it. The Disney princesses can be mashed up with pretty much any other fandom to create awesomeness, but what about other characters?

The NYC-based Graphic Design team of Rage Gear Studios have been creating art that is geared towards geeks as well as producing marketing materials for Gay Geeks of NY, a group where LGBTQ community can share their love of everything geeky. Their artists, Eric Guerrero, Rey Arzeno and Héctor Barros, have created a mash-up pairing that is a total blast from the past.

Prepare yourselves for the X-Men as Rainbow Brite characters!

Scarlett O’Hex

Scarlett O'Hex
A lot of the old Rainbow Brite characters had names that were puns. The Red color kid was named Red Butler after Rhette Butler, the love interest of Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind. To stay in line with the naming scheme, Rage Gear named the Scarlet Witch: Scarlett O’Hex.

Mean Mean Tangerine

Mean Mean Tangerine
Aww. Little Wolverine has never been so adorable. But don’t let him catch you saying that, Bub.

Lemon Lee

Lemon Lee
Jubilee’s distinctive coat from the 90’s keeps her distinctive. Where the heck do you even buy a big yellow trench coat?

Roguey D’Mint

Roguey D'Mint
Rogue is rocking those moon boots with her usual southern sass. Beware her kisses though, lest you turn green yourself.

Ice Blue

Ice Blue
Iceman looks just about as happy as happy could be riding down his ice slide. I think if I could produce playground equipment wherever I went, I would be pretty happy too!

Indigo Beau

Look at that smirk. Northstar knows how good he looks in indigo.

PsyViolet

PsyViolet
I’m looking forward to seeing Psylocke in the new X-Men movie, but I doubt she will be as adorable as this PsyViolet. She has tiny fairy wing epaulets!

Remy Le Rose

Remy Le Rose
Gambit always made pink look sexy and Remy Le Rose is no different. He looks like he is about to charm you right out of a lollipop.

Stormy

Stormy
Storm and the original character Stormy have more in common than just their names. Stormy was the color kid with power over weather. She could produce thunder, lightning, rain, hail and snow all atop her flying horse Skydancer (who was a total badass.) The horses hooves produced lightning!

Moon Crawler

Moon Glow
Moonglow was the kid in charge of brightening up the night, which made Nightcrawler the perfect pick to represent her.

Dazzle Brite

Dazzler makes an amazing Rainbow Brite. I love her colorful roller skates!

These characters are all rocking their looks and bringing some fun and joy to the mutants. I do wonder about the other characters though. Would Beast be Champ, Buddy Blue’s furry Sprite friend? maybe Charles Xavier would be Krys, the prism fighter who rides a robotic horse? The idea of Magneto as Murky just kills me. Rage Gear Studios is currently working on making holographic glitter foil prints of these characters, so keep an eye on their site if you want to own your own X-Men Color Kids.

Who do you think should portray The Evil Princess or Sgt. Zombo? What kind of mash-ups do you want to see in the future? let us know in the comments below!
