Awesome Events Happening Outside of San Diego Comic Con 2016

It’s that time again, kids. San Diego Comic-Con is right around the corner, and it’s time to start making plans! Of course, one of the amazing things about SDCC is that the convention fun doesn’t only happen in the actual convention. Nope, there are lots of amazing things to do outside the convention for the entire duration of the con–and some don’t even require a badge. So what are some of the coolest things going down outside of SDCC 2016? I’m so glad you asked…

Conival

I mean, you knew we were gonna talk about this one, right? Held by Legendary, last year’s event in Petco Park was where Geek & Sundry, Nerdist, and Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls got together and had amazing onstage interviews, loads of merriment, and some of your favorite people. Check back later this week to find out all of the awesome stuff we’ll be doing this year!

Nerd HQ

Zachary Levi’s Nerd HQ has become a staple of the comic con experience. While tickets are extremely limited, you don’t need to have a badge to get in. Nerd HQ, in addition to helping great causes like Project Smile, is a cool and more intimate way to get time with some of your favorite celebs without cramming into a giant auditorium. We’re still waiting for an official lineup of conversations and for tickets to officially go on sale, but Nerd HQ is definitely a must-attend event if you’re in the area.

Her Universe Fashion Show

Ashley Eckstein’s brilliant fangirl fashion line pulls together some amazing creators each year for a chance to show off their work. For the third year in a row, Eckstein will be bringing together 27 designers to create outstanding looks that could land them the opportunity to create a Her Universe fashion line for Hot Topic. Last year’s winner created an amazing Star Wars line for Hot Topic, so I cannot wait to see what this year bring!

Conan O’Brien at Comic Con

This is another event that doesn’t require a badge. If you don’t have tickets to see a taping, however, you’ll actually require a time machine; this puppy’s sold out. Conan will be coming back to the con to film his show alongside of some awesome guests like the casts from Game of Thrones, Suicide Squad, and Silicon Valley. Conan always shows his fans a good time, so you’re in for a treat if you’ve got tickets.

Batman v Superman Experience

Get a chance to check out the Batmobile, win some great prizes exclusive to the convention, and make some new friends with the daily scavenger hunt over at Heroes Park at the Omni Hotel. Regardless of how you felt about the movie itself, this event will be a fun way to get fully immersed in the world of the Dark Knight and Kal-El himself.

Nintendo Video Game Lounge

Over at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina Hotel, you can find anything and everything your Nintendo-loving heart dreams of. With lots of great games to play, photo ops, competitions, and giveaways, there will be plenty to keep both young and old entertained all weekend long.

Adult Swim on the Green

Just behind the convention center, Adult Swim will be setting up camp for free fun during the day and after dark. Whether you’re heading over there for someone fun photo ops, great giveaways, or to check out their latest show, or you’re going to the green after hours to see what’s coming next for the network (Toonami, Rick and Morty, and so much more) there will be tons to keep you busy and keeping you having fun.

What events did we miss? Will we see you at Camp Conival this year? Tell us your SDCC 2016 plans in the comments!
