Despite being weekdays, we’re all about going all out on geeky “holidays,” and these special days in May are one more opportunity to dive head-first into Star Wars. Here are four ideas to get you into the spirit.
PLAY STAR WARS: DESTINY
We can’t get enough of this Fantasy Flight game. If you’re looking for a run-down of what it’s all about, our overview covers all the basics. A starter box (available at your friendly local gaming store) is all that you need to get going, though if you want to go really deep, they also have blind booster packs which are exciting and addicting to open.
SUPPORT THE STAR WARS CHARITY DRIVE
In case you haven’t heard, Star Wars is partnering with Omaze to support UNICEF through a charity raffle. They’ve been doing a ton of great promos including getting Luke Skywalker himself to prank unsuspecting fans. There’s still time to get in on the charity raffle, just in case you think visiting Skywalker Ranch might be the sort of thing you’d be cool with.
PLAY SECRET HITLER WITH A STAR WARS TWIST
There are free-to-download rethemes available for one of our favorite games that sets Secret Hitler in the Star Wars Universe. Sure, from the prequels it was pretty easy to tell who the guy who had the secret evil plan was (spoilers: it was Palpatine) but with your group of friends, it’ll be far more fun and challenging.
JUMP INTO A STAR WARS FAN THEORY DEBATE WITH FRIENDS
We’re all about fan theories, and these are the days to bring it back and talk about them. We’ve talked about other women we’re hoping to see in the Star Wars: Forces of Destiny animated series and whether or not Jar-Jar is a Sith Lord. Is Kylo Ren’s name one of those meme-generated names (the second 2 letters of your maternal grandfather’s last name + the last two letters of your family name, with a Sith title added based on month of birth)? One of the best parts of being a fan is geeking out completely in fan theories and geeking out with friends about it.
What’s your favourite Star Wars fan theory? Tell us in comments.
